2013 Minnesota State Fair

This year, more than 120 volunteers made Sierra Club North Star Chapter’s state fair booth a huge success. Over the course of 12 12-hour days, our volunteers collected over 2700 comments to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission in support of replacing Xcel Energy’s Sherco coal plant, Minnesota’s largest polluter, with wind, solar and energy efficiency.

The Great Minnesota Get Together was a chance to talk with neighbor, friends and fellow Minnesotans about our vision of moving beyond coal (and fossil fuels) to clean energy options like wind, solar and energy efficiency. Minnesota is ready to make the transition beyond coal. In fact, while at the State Fair himself, Governor Dayton called to eliminate the use of coal for electricity in Minnesota.

If you didn’t take action at our booth, and want to support renewables and energy efficiency and weigh in on the future of the Sherco coal plant, take action today!

A big thank you to all the volunteers that made this year’s state fair booth a great success!
