On Saturday, July 9 over one hundred Sierra Club members and parks supporters gathered on the State Capitol lawn to send the message that parks funding should be preserved as part of the ongoing state budget negotiations.
Rally participants set up tents and brought canoes, grills, and other outdoor gear and staged a mock campout on the Capitol lawn. Speakers from different environmental organizations spoke about the effect the state shutdown and any possible budget cuts would have on Minnesota’s parks and great outdoors.
We asked our supporters what state parks meant to them – see what they said in the video above!
If you weren’t able to make it to the rally, contact your legislators and let them know what state parks mean to you, and ask them to not sacrifice our state’s natural legacy as part of any final budget deal!
