Making Snelling Ave. Complete

Amsterdam Complete Street

What a complete street could look like.

On Monday night the Sierra Club along with our community partners held our Snelling Avenue Complete Streets Workshop to train local community members to better advocate for bicycle, transit, and pedestrian facilities on Snelling Ave when it’s resurfaced this Spring.

Planning and organizing paid off.  An incredible number (nearly 80!) of St. Paul residents and Sierra Club activists turned out and packed the room! Community member’s voices were heard, information disseminated, and a vision was captured with real life examples. There’s much work to be done in the very near future.

Sierra Club packed the room!

One response to “Making Snelling Ave. Complete

  1. This is a great effort – but in the past all the focus has been, understandably, on the part of Snelling Ave. in St. Paul. While having a safer "southern" Snelling is a good thing, there are alternatives that could be developed as well, at least for bike routes. However, there is no reasonable alternative to Snelling over the bridges (train tracks, Como, etc.) north of St. Paul. And there never seems to be any movement towards making the commute from Roseville/Falcon Heights into St. Paul safer.
